Marina Nissim & Maurizio Rigillo – Una Boccata d’Arte
Marina Nissim, President of Fondazione Elpis, has been collecting contemporary art for 25 years. In 2020 she funded the first edition of Una Boccata d’Arte – 20 artists 20 villages 20 regions, a national project which aimed to be, during the pandemic, a prove of optimism and encouragement for a revival of artistic culture and the territory in which we live.
Maurizio Rigillo is co-founder of Associazione Arte Continua and Galleria Continua, a contemporary art gallery which opened in 1990 in San Gimignano, Italy. Over the course of 30 years, the gallery has expanded with six other locations all over the world, focussing on giving continuity to contemporary art by inviting artists in the realisation of exhibitions, projects, and public and private artistic interventions.
He is Artistic Director of Una Boccata d’Arte, bringing his deep knowledge of the Italian and international contemporary art scene and its artists, as well as his passion for local territories and public projects, to the peninsula-wide project.
“One day, in the early stages of the pandemic, during a phone conversation with Maurizio I said to myself: we are in a moment of crisis, in a closed country, we have to do something for Italy, for young people and for the territory. I thought: we have to provide a breath of art.”
