BelMondo – La Rivoluzione delle Seppie

The project BelMondo is one of the two winners selected by the Fondazione Italia Patria della Bellezza for a monetary prize within this year’s open call. The project was presented by La Rivoluzione delle Seppie ( The Cuttlefish Revolution), a hypercollective whose goal is to reactivate areas that are considered marginal, in particular the town of Belmonte Calabro, by experimenting with new models of life and work, using a relational approach that involves both the locals and the new inhabitants who come from different parts of the world, co-living and co-working students and digital nomads, to gain a plural, multiethnic and international community.

BelMondo is a hybrid tribe of nomads and locals, a new way to build a community within empty spaces and bring there sounds and stories. It’s the transformation of plain spaces in “spaces to inhabit”.

The objective for the new communication campaign is to arouse local interests and appeal to flows of kindred spirits. A communication campaign that other than using social media, fanzines, videos and interviews, uses in a provocative way more traditional instruments, such as billposting and printings on local newspapers. A people specific approach able to promote a social and local integration. Thus evolving alongside the land. Talking about towns rather than hamlets, about collectivity rather than activity.
